Information for participants
What will I learn?
It will be fun. And challenging.
What support will I gain?
You will have a peer supporter – someone who has already done the program and knows how it feels to want to drop out…but also the rewards of sticking with the program.
You will also be assigned a worker to support you personally. Our workers are a multi-talented bunch. Between us we know how to do the following things really well:
- footy
- soccer
- write
- act
- sing
- make music
- draw
- do photography
- make beats and rap
- paint
- dance
- art
We match you with the worker whose talents most suit your dream. If your dream involves something that none of us know much about, we either skill ourselves or find someone who knows what you need to know to help you.
If you need a tutor for a subject at school that you’re finding tough, we will arrange a tutor to help you.
We plug gaps in technology – maybe you need internet access? Or a home computer?
And we provide you with access to a small fund to meet education expenses – like school uniform, excursions, text books.
What should I expect from the program?
You should expect:
- to receive support that doesn’t give up on you…ever!
- the chance to learn lots of new skills from talented adults
- a great new bunch of friends who will support you
- to become part of a strong community that cares about you achieving your own dreams.
What do we expect from you?
Commitment – we hold program workshops every month. We expect you to attend every workshop.
Daring – it takes courage to share a dream, and to start to chase it. What if you fail? Well, you start again, and again, and again. And it takes courage to step into a new group, and to learn new things.
Enthusiasm – all we ask is that you give things your all. We will celebrate the best that you can be!
