September Again – Redfern Magic

We met twice in September. On 24 and 25 September, we returned to the Redfern Community Centre and the music studio with the capable assistance of Tania Bowra.

Nadeena joined us again to help to produce the music. Before we moved inside to work, Nadeena gave the group some insight into Redfern “then and now”, and an express tour of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander political movements while she was at it. Participants were asked to see what their part in these movements is.

Taylor recorded the makings of her track, “Falling Like a Leaf”, a beautifully haunting song about making change.

The actors (Georgia, Jeremy, Taylor) continued to work with Kate Box and to film more scenes for their professional show reels.

Amy joined us again and developed and then filmed a dance routine that explores her family.

Chantelle made some difficult decisions about the direction of her drawn animation work.

Blake, Tyrone and Chris filmed parts of “The Wombat Show”.

Micky broke the back of her research to make a trip to Brungle and Tumut and Chloe and Tonika began to finalise their research for road trips to Kempsey/Taree and Coonabarabran/Quirindai.

We missed Taminya and Kimberley.
